SDS Sheets

In the United States, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration requires that SDS be available to employees for potentially harmful substances handled in the workplace under the Hazard Communication regulation. The SDS is also required to be made available to local fire departments and local and state emergency planning officials under Section 311 of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act.

A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) contains basic information intended to help the consumer work safely with a material. It is designed to provide both workers and emergency personnel with the proper procedures for handling or working with a particular substance. SDS's include information such as physical data, health effects, first aid, reactivity, storage, disposal, protective equipment, and spill/leak procedures.
