Hearts & Hammers

Every year, Viking Electric associates and their families volunteer their time, and provide many resources and materials to the Hearts & Hammers organization. These projects consist of about 20 volunteers who perform maintenance and home improvements including stucco and siding repair, exterior paint, garage cleaning and repairs, significant yard cleanup, light structural repairs, new landscaping and other exterior home updates.

The mission of Hearts & Hammers –Twin Cities is to provide exterior home improvement assistance for Senior Citizens, Disabled Adults, and Veterans of the United States Armed Forces or their Surviving Spouse so that they may continue living independently. This assistance is provided at no cost to homeowners.

Girl Scouts - Power Girls

Viking Electric is a proud sponsor of Girl Scouts River Valleys—in partnership with Dunwoody College of Technology and other community supporters. This program provides unique experiences for girls to explore science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Throughout the successful six-day camp, 80 girls became construction leaders, learned how to use new tools, and put their skills to the test as they built the exteriors of two tiny homes. Whether a week-long camp or a day-long workshop, girls practiced problem solving, experimented with technology, developed leadership, and took positive risks by discovering new things—like woodworking, welding, sustainable design, and renewable energy.

Led by female Dunwoody instructors, the girls explored a range of educational and career options, all in a supportive, girl-centered environment. When they weren’t building the tiny homes, girls enjoyed the outdoors and boosted their confidence through boating, archery, and outdoor survival programming.

Most recently, Viking Electric donated six DeWalt cordless drills to the organization, to help the girls complete their Power Girls projects!
