Viking Electric Moves to New Chicago Location

Chicago, Illinois – (June 5, 2020). Viking Electric, A Sonepar Company, announced today that the company will close the doors at its former Brook Electrical Supply location at 1958 West Lake Street in Chicago and move to a larger facility at 1925 West Fulton Street in Downtown Chicago. Viking Electric will begin operating at the new Fulton Street location on Monday, June 8, 2020.

Mike Huitsing will continue as the Sales Operations Manager at the new Viking Electric location in Downtown Chicago. “We are proud to move into a larger facility, in a new location,” Huitsing said. “The move will allow us to grow with our associates and customers in the Chicago market,” he said.

The new Viking Electric address includes a 17,000-square-foot facility with a 1,700 square-foot city desk showroom and 1,700 square feet of office space. The warehouse occupies the remaining 13,600 square feet and includes two dock doors and one overhead drive-in door for larger deliveries. The company noted that the new location also includes off-street parking for its customers.

All three of Viking Electric’s Chicago area locations are being managed by Terry Reister, Viking Electric’s Director of Business Operations - Chicago. “The move to a larger facility will allow Viking Electric to provide quality electrical products and top-notch service offerings to our customers in Chicago,” Reister said. “It is our vision to be the indispensable electrical supply chain partner central to our customers’ success,” he said.


Brook Electrical Supply Now Operating as Viking Electric

Minneapolis, Minn. – (June 1, 2020). Viking Electric, a leader in the Upper Midwest electrical distribution industry, announced today that Brook Electrical Supply (Brook Electrical) is now operating as Viking Electric. Earlier in the year, it was announced that two Sonepar USA operating companies, Viking Electric and Brook Electrical, would be joining forces as one organization.

Since that time, Viking Electric has assumed operations of Brook Electrical’s three locations in the Chicago area, and is rebranding these locations under the Viking Electric name. The three new Viking Electric locations are being managed by Terry Reister, Viking Electric’s Director of Business Operations - Chicago.

Viking Electric was founded in 1964 with its headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota and now operates 24 branch locations across Minnesota, Wisconsin and in the Chicago, Illinois area.


Brook Electrical Joins Viking Electric

Charleston, S.C. (January 7, 2020) – Sonepar USA, a subsidiary of the privately held Sonepar Group, announced today that two of their operating companies, Brook Electrical Supply and Viking Electric, will be joining forces as one organization.

Brook currently operates three branches in and around Chicago, Illinois. Based in Minneapolis, Viking Electric has 21 locations across Minnesota and Wisconsin. The combined organization creates a stronger network in the Midwest, providing customers with even better access to services and solutions.

Viking Electric and Brook Electrical Supply Announce Leadership Changes

Minneapolis, Minnesota – (January 27, 2020). As Viking Electric and Brook Electrical Supply (Brook) join together to form one organization, the companies announced today that Terry Reister has been named as the Director of Business Operations and Charles Norvil as Sales Manager, of Brook’s three locations in the Chicago area.

Terry Reister has 15 years of experience in the electrical industry and has been with Viking Electric since 2005. His career started at Viking Electric’s LaCrosse and Milwaukee Wisconsin locations, where he worked in a variety of warehouse, driver, and sales positions. In 2014, Reister relocated to the company’s location in Madison, Wisconsin where he served as general manager and led that location to a substantial increase in sales. In his new role, Reister will be responsible for the Brook and Viking Electric integration, and will oversee sales and operations of the three Brook locations in the Chicago area market.

Charles Norvil brings 34 years of industry experience in the Chicago area and has been with Brook for five years. His experience includes warehouse, counter sales, delivery driver, purchasing, sales management, and strategic leadership positions. In his new role, Norvil will be responsible for overseeing Brook’s account management and project sales.

Viking Electric to Host Grand Opening Celebration at New Facility in Duluth, Minn.

Duluth, Minnesota – (April 5, 2019). Viking Electric will host a grand opening celebration on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00PM to celebrate the new business location in Duluth. The new facility is located in Duluth’s West End at 15 South 38th Avenue West, Duluth, Minnesota 55807. The grand opening celebration will include a delicious catered dinner, refreshments, and great door prizes including a Large Big Green Egg Grill.

"Viking Electric is thrilled to be hosting a grand opening to celebrate our new building in a new location," Duluth General Manager Greg Irvine said. "We are excited to operate out of a larger facility, which will allow Viking Electric to grow, expand our services, and better serve our customers in Northern Minnesota."

Viking Electric’s new 29,600-square-foot facility includes a city desk, product showroom, reception area and warehouse. The warehouse includes a 28-foot ceiling clearance, two receiving dock doors and five shipping docks. In addition, there is one large overhead door in the rear of the building for larger deliveries and one small overhead door in the front for customer load-out. The second floor includes 7,344 square feet of office space and an area for future expansion.


Viking Electric to Break Ground on New Facility in Madison, Wis.

Madison, Wisconsin – (June 13, 2019). Viking Electric will host a ground-breaking ceremony on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 1:00 PM to celebrate its planned move to a new location and a new facility in January 2020. The address of the new location is 5305 Femrite Drive, Madison, Wisconsin, 53718, which is just east of the company’s existing Madison location.

The tentative floor plan of the new Madison facility includes approximately 32,000 square feet of warehouse space; 6,300 square feet of office space; and 2,500 square feet of showroom/city desk space. The plans for the warehouse include a 26-foot-high ceiling clearance, two receiving doors, five shipping doors, one overhead drive-in door for larger deliveries, and one overhead, roll-up door at Will Call for customer load out. Viking Electric will be the sole tenant of their new facility which means they will be able to add larger dedicated parking spaces to better accommodate their customers’ trucks and trailers.

Terry Reister, General Manager of Viking Electric’s existing location in Madison, has been employed by Viking Electric for 14 years and will manage the new facility. "Viking Electric has been discussing a new location for its Madison operations for a long time and we are proud to be moving forward with a new building in a new location," Reister said. "We are thrilled about the prospects of operating out of a newer, larger facility. It will allow us to grow, expand our services, and better serve our customers in and around Madison, Wisconsin."
